T-Shirt Print Locations

There are many different locations on a shirt that can be printed on (anywhere on the shirt really!), but there are only a few that are used often. Likewise, there are t-shirt print locations that are usually only used in certain circumstances. Read through these t-shirt print locations to see what location is the best for your t-shirt print.

-Full Front T-Shirt Print

The full front print is without a doubt the most widely used - it's the part of you that people see most often after all! The full front t-shirt print is usually 11"-12" wide and usually isn't longer than 14 inches or so, although the actual size many times depends on if the print is going on both youth and adult size shirts.

The full front t-shirt print is used on almost all shirts so it is an appropriate print for just about any shirt for any occasion - family reunions, dorm t-shirts, businesses, etc.

-Full Back T-Shirt Print

The full back t-shirt print is similar to the front print as far as usage goes - but slightly differs in size. Full back prints are almost always bigger than front prints - many times they fill up the entire back of the shirt!

While back t-shirt prints can be used on any shirt for any purpose, they are very popular for events which have sponsors. Many times event coordinators will sell an ad on a shirt and if they sell enough it can fill up the entire back of the shirt.

I've also found that restaurant owners prefer to only print full back prints rather than on the fronts. The reasoning behind this is because waitresses wearing aprons would cover up the logo on the front so the back is the largest area exposed on the shirt for the print to be located. Issues like this should be kept in mind when getting your t-shirts or apparel printed.

-Left Chest T-Shirt Print

Left Chest prints usually would fit within a small 3"-4" square on the left chest area of the shirt (where a pocket on a pocketed t-shirt might fall). This is an appropriate location for a small logo or a line of text, such as a a persons name.

Businesses make the most use of left chest prints because it is a conservative print - not as large and "gaudy" as a full front print. Despite this fact I've seen many other organizations other than businesses opt for a left chest design.

-Short Sleeve T- Shirt Print

A short sleeve print is a print on left, right, or both sleeves of a short sleeve t-shirts. Since there is not much area to print on, the print is usually not wider than 3".

The biggest use of a short sleeve print is for additional sponsors on event t-shirts. Usually an event organizer will sell the ads on the sleeves for a higher price than those on the back because of the greater amount of recognition.

-Long Sleeve T-Shirt Print

A long sleeve print is on the left or right sleeve of a long sleeve t-shirt and rarely falls on both sleeves. The long sleeve print can be used for a long string of text - perhaps the name or date of the event the shirts are being printed for. Since it is limited by the length of the sleeve, most prints are under under 17" in length.

-"Tag" Print

The "tag" print falls between the shoulder blades on the back of the shirt. This logo tends to be very small (no more than 2" tall) and is great for those who want to add a little style to their shirts with a subtle feature.

-Side Print

The side print usually runs down the left side of the shirts and is popular among high school and college students. The print can run the entire length of the shirt and the print often has a distressed or destroyed look to it.
